Software Engineer Job, Hertfordshire – UK

Jonathan Hart-Smith at CK IT is looking for a Software Engineer to join his client, the UK leader in robot production and automation in its field.

 

The role:

As Software Engineer you will be responsible for developing a specialist computerised system. The existing system is PC-based, written in Delphi and provide real-time control:

  • XML-based communication with the robot interfacing systems.
  • Conveyor control using CAN Bus and PLC communications.

 

The team:

As Software Engineer you will be joining a team which specialises in interfacing between specialist automation equipment and external systems using C# typically using SQL Server databases and various messaging standards, notably HL7-based XML documents and other specialised robot interfacing protocols.

 

The successful candidate will be:

  • Confident in providing 3rd line support to field staff in the implementation and operation of products.
  • Experienced in designing and developing automation or other hardware software
  • Organised and work under pressure.
  • Happy to work in a team or alone
  • Educated to degree level, preferably in an IT related discipline
  • Experienced in real-time programming
  • Experienced in Electrical/Electronics engineering knowledge
  • Experienced in PLC programming
  • Experience of automation either in production or product development
  • Experienced in IT or network support
  • A good team player
  • Self motivated and enthusiastic
  • Decisive and able to work without supervision

Embedded Software Engineer job – Cambridge, UK

We are currently helping an award winning organisation based in Cambridge to find an Embedded Software Engineer to join their team.

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will support senior consultants on major projects and undertake major parts of smaller projects.

 

Responsibilities:

Software design, coding and test (C language for embedded systems and C++/C# language for Windows applications).

  • Documentation and report writing.
  • Unit testing and system testing.
  • Test systems development.
  • Test protocol development.

In addition, the role will likely require assisting with:

  • Verification testing (against formal test protocols).
  • Running experiments and recording results.
  • Setting up experiments.

 

 

Qualifications, experience and education:

This role requires a good team player with good verbal and written communication skills who has the confidence to work in a multidisciplinary project team and a dynamic multi-project environment. The candidate should have good client facing skills with the ability to take responsibility for significant parts of design activities allocated to them.

The successful candidate will also have a good software/electronics engineering degree (first degree, masters of PhD). You will have an an excellent academic track record. They will be enthusiastic about building a career in a consulting environment to include client facing duties and project management responsibilities. The candidate must be able to demonstrate good project co-ordination and attention to detail.

In addition, the ideal candidate for this Embedded Software Engineer role shall have significant commercial experience of embedded C programming in resource constrained systems. Embedded C programming at the application and system hardware level with knowledge of interrupt handling and common hardware peripherals, including all of the following: I2C, SPI, PWM, UART, ADC / DAC, timers, watchdog is a must.<
